Nha Trang is famous with its lovely beaches, island and mountain.  With the 7km white sand beach, Nha Trang is often called Vietnam’s Mediterranean. Located in Central area of Vietnam, Nha Trang city has many advantages to develop tourist services.

Nha Trang is sunny all year round, with an average temperature of 23’. Local people rarely experience damages caused by storms thanks to a system of islands and mountains that protect the city from cruel winds. The rain season lasts 4 months (from September to December), but for the region around Nha Trang city, the rainy season lasts only 2 months, thus providing very favorable condition to develop a long lasted tourism season and organize year-round tourist activities.

Nha Trang benefits from topographical advantages of the sea, islands, mountains and deltas. Nha Trang Quick Summary

May 04, 2008

Nestled below the bottom lip of the Cai River, some 260km north of Phan Thiet, NHA TRANGhas earned its place on Vietnam's tourist mainline partly on merit andpartly owing to its location. By the time the Nguyen lords wrested thispatch of the country from Champa in the mid-seventeenth century, theintriguing Po Nagar Cham towers had already stood, stackedimpressively on a hillside above the Cai, for over seven hundred years. They remain Nha Trang's most famous image, yet it's the coastline thatbrings tourists flocking: the town boasts the finest municipal beach inVietnam, scuba-diving courses are available here, and there are plentyof day-trips to outlying islands too. It's worth bearing in mind, however, that the Nha Trang region has a rainy season lasting from November through to early January.

Most new arrivals in the city make a beeline for the municipal beach,a grand six-kilometre scythe of soft yellow sand that's only five minutes' stroll east of Cho Dam market. The Pasteur Institute at the top of Tran Phu, the main drag running parallel to the beach, houses the Alexandre Yersin Museum (Mon–Sat 8–11am & 2–4.30pm; $1.80), which profiles the life of the Swiss-French scientist whosettled in Nha Trang in 1893 and became a local hero, thanks not to hisgreatest achievement – the discovery of a plague bacillus – but ratherbecause of his educational work in sanitation and agriculture, and hisability to predict typhoons and thus save the lives of fishermen.Yersin's desk is here, with his own French translations of Horace stillslotted under its glass top; so, too, are the barometers and telescopehe used to forecast the weather, and his phenomenal library. The huge White Buddha seated on a hillside above Long Son Pagoda in the northwest of town is Nha Trang's major landmark. It was crafted in 1963 to symbolize the Buddhist struggle against the repressive Diem regime, and around its lotus-shaped pedestal are carved images of the monks and nuns that set fire to themselves in protest.

Accomodation at Nha Trang city

The fact at Nha Trang is chock-full of hotels doesn't seem of discouraging developers, and the city's already wide choice of accommodation just keep on growing. Beach front monoliths are gradually blocking out any sea view from the mini hotels on backstreet of the town. Even so, it's worth bearing in mine that the city draws  Vietnamese as well as foriegn tourists, and that there can be difficulties finding a room over public holidays, when price rise.  The good news is that Nha Trang offers some of the best accommodation options outside Ho Chi Minh City or Ha Noi, with great deal hiden away in the backstreets, Budget travellers, in particular, should head straight for "Hotel Alley", beside 64 Tran Phu, where a clutch os newish mini-hotels vie for custom.

Eatting & drinking

Finding a decent place to eat presents no problem in Nha Trang, with seafood its speciality. There is no particular district of town to head for, thought the budget area around Biet Thu street has a wide variety of places. You don't need to leave the beach to eat during the day, as strolling vendors are on hand with their tempting snacks. There's also a night market south of the warter park with many cheap food stalls.

Night life

Nha Trang has an advantage over Mui Ne when it comes to its buzzing nightlife. There are plenty of chillout and party places around the budget district and, while nightspots along the beach front tend to be a bit pricier than ones located inland, all of them have generous happy hours,  guaranteed to bring you back for more. Ocassional crackdowns have the bars closing at midnight, but left to the own devices, most bar-owners will stay open till the wee hours.
