Sea Snake

Sea Snake

Divers have spotted some sea snakes while diving in Nha Trang bay. According to the Sea Snake Toxinology by P. Golpalakrishnakone, Morice in 1875 was the first person to have reported sea snakes in Vietnam.

The oceanographic Instuitue in Nha Trang City contain large collection of snake specimens. Lapemis Hardwickii is the predominant snake species in southern Vietnam with Hydrophis Fasciatus in the central Viet Nam region.

"The visibility was fantastic - Definitely beats the cloudy 4 mm visibility you get in England!” Nha Trang is loaded with new fishes to be seen. “I managed to photograph the lovely Nemo fish and also saw a sea snake…”

Nha Trang Oceanography Institute

The Institute was founded in 1923 near the port of Cau Da in the southern part of Nha Trang. Visiting the Oceanography Institute you will notice a wide collection of rare patterns of sea life, a result of over half a century of collecting and hard work. Among these are strange corals of tree form and varied color, crabs, oysters, shrimps, enormous pearls of all sizes, sea snakes, whales and sharks.
